Did you ever realize that no matter where you start you are starting from the middle?
You can never TRULY start at the realll beginning because who's to say when that was. Unless perhaps your superconfident, but that just might mean you're pretentious.
Anyway, when i was younger, everytime i started writing in a new notebooks (i have a small, ehem, ok large obsession with notebooks and sketchbooks) i would want to start from the beginning. I would want to tell that notebook everything about me ever. From the color of my toenail polish to the car i want to drive when i get older (ok maybe thats staying within the superficial field). The thing was i'd always get bored about halfway through and then neglect the poor notebook, i'd find a new one and tuck this one into some wooden side drawer. THEN, after all that trauma of neglect, find it again and rip out all the pages that had my likes and dislikes because i had new ones. I thought my old ones were pretty crappy, probably.
And SO after many notebooks, and much page ripping, i decided that its no good to try starting from the beginning, it is far better to start from right here and right now. The middle, or maybe about 1/4 of the way in, maybe less. To life that is. And if you really want to know, maybe i could backpaddle a bit for you (i love reminsicing, my favourite conversation by far is fads of the 90s).
so here is now
while making dinner with father and listening to Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band:
c: i bet you tried LSD daddy, you and mommy were just some pot smoking hippies with giant plastic necklaces and squinty eyes, rambling for peace
d: no, LSD has some very permanent effects, not like other drugs. People who did LSD, Cecile, they're in politics. Because their brains are fried.
c: (smiles and runs to write this down, leaving father to his vegetable chopping, hippie-esque thoughts. Best part- i'm not sure if he thinks he's being funny)
